Our family special Sri Lanka Holidays Tour starts in Colombo. Head to safari for we will spot elephants in Udawalawe National Park. Then, head to the capital of the highlands, Kandy and the Udawattekele Sanctuary. During the last days of the tour will spend four nights relaxing on the beach at Passikudah before returning, via the ‘cultural triangle’ to Colombo.

Getting there
There are direct non-stop flights from London to Colombo with SriLankan Airlines. You can also book Emirates, Oman Airways and Qatar Airways that offer indirect flights from most airports in the UK with changes in Dubai, Muscat or Abu Dhabi.

A direct flight from London Heathrow to Colombo should take around 11 hours. Indirect flights usually take around 14 hours.

DEPART THE UK
ARRIVE COLOMBO
We will arrive Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka today. Take an afternoon tour of the city at your own leisure.
COLOMBO to UDAWALAWE NATIONAL PARK via KITULGALA
Today leave Colombo and travel south to Udawalawe National Park. This is a large reserve - home to 400 Asian elephants - made up of 119 square miles of grassland, scrub jungle and riverine forest.
UDAWALAWE NATIONAL PARK
Today, we will be exploring Udawalawe on safari accompanied by a naturalist. Besides the large concentration of Asian elephants, it is also home to spotted deer, sambar, barking deer, wild boar, water buffalo and jackal and nearly 200 species recorded.
UDAWALAWE NATIONAL PARK to KANDAPOLA
KANDAPOLA
Today, early morning, we will leave for the Horton Plains, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you can enjoy gentle hikes and search for some of Sri Lanka’s most diverse wildlife. We will also hike to the famous ‘World’s End’ for incredible views over the rolling highlands, and search for beautiful Bakers Falls.
KANDAPOLA to KANDY via HORTONS NATIONAL PARK
Today, after breakfast, we will head towards Kitugala for a morning of exciting white water rafting. And, later drive to Kandy for a two-night stay.
KANDY
After breakfast, we will visit the Udawattekele Sanctuary that is home to several endemic species of flora and fauna and over 150 different species of birds. Later we will visit the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, one of the finest botanical gardens in the subcontinent and a wonderful place to explore.
KANDY to PASSIKUDAH
Today we will leave Kandy and head to the east coast of Sri Lanka. Welcome to Passikudah that was the first landing point of the Dutch in 1602. It is host to one of the finest beaches in the world.

These next three days are reserved for your relaxation at Passikudah.
